JapSathi privacy policy

For JapSathi (Jap Counter) · Effective 20 September 2026

For support or privacy questions, contact info@staro.in. This notice covers the current offline Android release and the JapSathi website.

Practice data stays on your device

The Android app does not require an account. Mantra names, counts, goals, session dates and preferences are stored on your device. Practice history is encrypted using a device key. We do not receive this practice history and do not operate a cloud synchronization service in this release.

The app does not include advertising, analytics, tracking SDKs, in-app purchases or microphone recording. Timer-based auto mode estimates counts from a pace you calibrate; it does not listen to or recognize chanting. We do not sell personal information.

Your control and retention

Local history remains until you clear the app's storage or uninstall the app. There is no server-side practice account to delete. To remove Android history, use your device's Settings → Apps → JapSathi → Storage → Clear storage, or uninstall the app. On the website, remove the site's browser data. These actions remove the device key and can make history unrecoverable, so export an encrypted backup first if you want to keep it.

Android automatic cloud backup and device transfer of this app's private storage are excluded by the release configuration. Use the app's explicit encrypted backup and restore feature to move your history.

Files you choose to export or share

Encrypted backup files are protected by your passphrase. We cannot recover a forgotten passphrase. CSV exports are not encrypted and contain your practice details. When you choose an app or recipient in the device share sheet, that service handles the exported file under its own privacy policy. Keep copies only as long as you need them and delete them from every location you control when no longer needed.

Website and support

The website is hosted using ChatGPT Sites. Hosting providers may process technical information such as IP address, browser details and request times to deliver and protect the website. This is separate from locally stored practice history. The installed Android app bundles its core screens and does not need the website to count japs.

If you email support, we receive your email address and the information you choose to include. Do not send passwords, backup passphrases or private practice files. We use support messages only to respond and handle the request, and retain them only for handling the request and any applicable legal obligations. You can ask us to delete your support messages. Provider backups may retain copies according to the provider's retention process.

Children and families

JapSathi is intended for users of all ages. We do not knowingly collect children's personal information through the Android app. Children should ask a parent or guardian before contacting support or exporting or sharing files. A parent or guardian can contact us to request deletion of information supplied in a support message.

Security and requests

Device encryption is not a screen lock. It cannot protect against a compromised device or malicious code with access to the app. Avoid sharing an unlocked device or backup passphrase. Contact info@staro.in for access, correction or deletion requests concerning information you sent to support; local practice history can only be managed on your device.

Changes

We will update this notice when the app's data handling changes. Any future account or cloud feature will require an updated notice before activation.
